Ramadan Kareem 2009

Happy Ramadan to all Muslims around the world. Have a happy and blessed Ramadan.

The Holy Quran states,

"O ye Who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil)."

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has been reported to have said, " Fasting is a shield for you as it saves you from sins in the world and would protect you from Hell in the Hereafter. When anyone of you keeping fast, he should neither use indecent language nor speak aloud. If someone picks up a row and abuses him... you should tell him that you're obeserving a fast."

Great merit and credit has been ascribed to fast in the traditions. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has said that one who observes fast in the month of Ramadan for the pleasure of Allah, all of his past sins are forgiven by him and the odour of the mouth of the fasting person is most appreciable to Allah then musk.

The Prophet said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it."

Allah's Apostle said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."

The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)"
